Stealing Mase’s Job

August 20th, 2018

Mase, I'm sorry but I'm stealing your job.

Well, just for this blog post...

As you all know, Mase hosts the Five Spot weekdays at 5pm where he features the five most requested songs of the day.  So I have taken the liberty to take over the Five Spot via blog post.  However, I'm putting a little twist on it by featuring my five favorite songs we're playing right now.  Let me know what you think of this set by leaving a comment or shooting me an email.  If you agree with me and want these on the real Five Spot, shoot feedback@cd1025.com an email and let us know which ones, if any, you're digging.

5.) "She's Kerosene" by The Interrupters
This song is straight fire [haaa....].  I absolutely adore that ska punk sound because it is everything tough and edgy about punk with an added component of making you want to dance.  And who doesn't want to dance in their Docs?

4.) "Genius" by LSD
Our current Discover and Download for the week is the result of three synth heavy artists deciding to come together for this smart tune [I'm done with puns now].  The lyrics are snappy, the hook will get stuck in your head all day, and the subtle string section ties everything together nicely.

3.) "Simplify" by Young the Giant
I'm a sucker for a good love song and sharp power chords.  It really doesn't take much to make me happy.

2.) "SOS" by The Glorious Sons
An honest look at mental health and that feeling you get when nothing seems to be ok.  Will it make you reflect on your life?  Yes.  Will you also be singing along in your car?  Yes, yes you will.

1.) "Welcome to the Black Parade" by My Chemical Romance
LONG. LIVE. THE. BLACK. PARADE.  Seriously though, CD 102.5 is the only place I can play/hear this 2006 gem and it gives me life.

Now tell me what you think!  Shoot an email to bailey@cd1025.com and tell me if you would be into this set or not.  If you like it, great!  Request the songs and they may end up on-air for the Five Spot.  If you don't like it, not a problem!  Mase is actually still in charge...
