More Coachella: Read The Fine Print
January 25th, 2013
Buried deep within The Coachella Line Up are always a few interesting nuggets. The Sunday fine print reveals The Three O'Clock are performing this year. I haven't thought of them in years.
During the whole 80's Paisley Underground movement the late great and long lamented IRS label gave them a bit of a push. After leaving IRS Prince's Paisley Park Records snapped up the band. Jason Falkner (Jellyfish, The Greys, outstanding and under appreciated solo albums) had joined up by that time. Vermillion didn't sell well and by 1990 The Three O'Clock were no more.
Offers to reunite have reportedly bubbled up over the years, but were refused... until now. Coachella makes sense. The Three O'Clock are an LA band, and the Paisley Underground always had the biggest foothold in that state. I hope their set is streamed online. I'm very curious.
The look is a bit dated.... the sound probably too, but I love this kind of stuff.
As long as we're loose associating here.... Jason Falkner played 101 Day back in 1997. If you know him at all, chances are you do from his stint with Jellyfish. His solo records are amazing. From his first one... the record he was supporting when he came to see us at the Newport back in the day.
