New Reissues For This Week

December 12th, 2018

It’s that time of year…yep, a bunch of reissues as well as some never before released records are coming out just in time for the holidays. What does that mean for me? I’ll be spending WAY to much $$$ at our friendly neighborhood record stores.  This week alone there are 8 that have piqued my interests.

The one that jumped out first is the 3LP and CD/DVD of David Bowie’s 2000 Glastonbury performance. He was on tour for his 21st studio album, 1999’s “Hours” and this was NOT your typical “greatest hits” show. Of course he did “China Girl”, “Fame”, “Heroes” and some other classics. All great songs, but I’m that kind of fan that wants to hear deeper cuts. He did not disappoint on this tour. He also played things like “Little Wonder”, “Hallo Spaceboy” and “Absolute Beginners”. Not too shabby. That one’s probably going to set me back around $60…of course I can’t not buy it…right?

Another one that looks pretty cool is the reissue of Morrissey’s last album “Low In High School”. I’m not entirely sure why he’s re-releasing it so soon after the original release in 2017, but it will have an extra LP that will have some unreleased studio and live tracks, including his new cover of The Pretenders “Back On The Chain Gang”, so I can’t really be mad at that.

Some other ones coming out include Kate Bush, Howard Jones, Simple Minds and New Order. Here’s a pretty good list with some info and links to buy them…although you should shop local.
